I cannot stress this subject enough: If you’re shooting video on your DSLR camera, PLEASE do something to stabilize your camera, or else your footage will look like Jell-O!
Watch this video to see why stabilization is so important, my favorite tool for the job, and what to do when you’re stuck with limited equipment. (also, a little magic and a splash of awkwardness from me)

I am a HUGE fan of Manfrotto’s Video Monopod. As you can see from the video, it allows you to shoot video that’s almost as stable as if you were using a tripod, while being way more portable. If you’re serious about shooting DSLR video, it’s a worthwhile investment!
Completely off topic: Tomorrow I am off to Minnesota to spend some time with family and shoot video at a college friend’s wedding. I can’t wait! I’ve even been told that there are still a few fireflies to be found. :) I’ll be keeping up on Twitter and Facebook, but I’m also looking forward to a little vacay. In the meantime, don’t forget that the big BBQ bash is just 2 weeks away!
Better get your tickets!
